Many different decks have different preamp voltage. It seems the higher end decks have a higher voltage. I want to know the advantages of this. My deck has 3 pairs of 5 volt preamps outputs, Is this good?
5 volt preamps are very good. The higher, the better, but the main thing is you just want 2-3 volts or higher, anything above that is still better, but it's not going to make a huge difference
the main reason why higher voltages are better is because they induct less ground noise into the system. with the gains set near max, you'll bound to have some noise. maybe thats why high-level inputs have more noise?
