Default Quick upgrade from 8 to 10 inch?

I currently have a BTA 8250D BT in my car. How easy is it to upgrade to a BTA 10250D BT? Can I just swap them and use the same wires, harness and mounting kit?

Extremely easy. Unplug the harness from the 8250D, remove Tube, remove mounting bases, install 10250D mounting bases, plug the harness into the 10250D, and you are good to go.

What is different about the mounting bases? I have a lot of extra space on my straps now. Couldn't they accommodate the larger tubes?

No, the extra length of the strap is not the issue at hand. The issue is about the bases. The 10" Tube, has a larger diameter, as such, the bases that the Tube sits in, is unique to the diameter of the Tube.

Does the same apply if I had a BTA8100 and wanted to go to a BTA10250D? Or is the wiring/plug different??

The 250D does have a different Molex connector. The 250D needs a dedicated, fused power cable that is connected to the positive battery terminal. You will also need to install the included bases and straps with the 10250D.
