Default Sealed Enclosure

Hi Friends,
I purchased a CS Series 10" Bazooka Woofer.
What size enclosure is recommended?
Any Ideas on how small I can go and still get reasonable sound?
I'll be driving it with a Briged Sherwood amp capable or 175 Watts RMS.
I see that most diagrams have the subs fireing at the rear of the car when placed in the trunk is this better than other directions?
Thanks for shareing your knowledge,
Grey Beard

hey, i believe the recommended enclosure size is .7 cubic feet. that of course is internal dimensions. your sub will displace about .05 cubic feet and you need to factor in the thickness of your walls. you should use 3/4 inch mdf(medium density fiberboard) and secure it with wood glue and 2" wood screws. drill out the holes and screw while the glue is wet, making a firm seal .the smallest you want to go is probably about .5 cubic feet, you will lose some low freak response but it should be ok. and yes, facing your subs towards the rear is better.

Having the subs facing the rear isn't necessarily the best position in your case. It depends on your car, you enclosure, different factors. But in general, it USUALLY IS the best postition. Listen to your system with the enclosure in different positions to see what sounds best.
