Hack amplified tube to use as passive tube?

I received an older 6" amplified bass tube. The sub plays sound intermittently. I'm assuming the amp circuitry is shot. Can I bypass the bass tube's amp and just use it as a passive subwoofer? I have an old amp I could use to get an amplified sound source. Has anyone done this?

off hand, haven't herd of anyone doing that but why not.
first off you can get a replacment amp for the tube, depending on model http://www.bazooka.com/productAutoAm...TsEL.asp?id=87

but if you unscrew the back amp, it will come out with some insulation. you will see the 4 wires going up to the sub (belive all bazzoka tubes are dual cone, please correct me if i'm wrong)
you could then do a little creative solderng and just solder those to a point on the board that goes back out, say the high level in lines, or if your really good, get the amp out of there and make a pannel for that back with the speaker inputs.
