Default front or rear speakers

i have a schematic of my 2010 ranger wiring harness. i plan on tapping into the existing speaker wires. do i use the front speakers or the rear speaker output to the high level input of the bl6100 tube?

Use the front speakers.

Why front? If the Tube is in the trunk of a sedan, it's far easier to connect to the rear speakers. I've done this in two other vehicles and it sounds great. I'm thinking of helping a friend install an amplified tube in a Honda Accord sedan, so I'd like to know.

The technical reason for using the front channels is quite simple. If you do use your fader to adjust the sound, fading from the rear to front will cause a voltage loss, lowering the volume of the Tube. Using the front speakers will prevent this from happening.

If you never plan to use the fader to adjust the sound stage then using the rear channel for a signal source is fine.

Well, that makes sense. But I could make the same argument in reverse. If you fade toward the rear, tying into the front speakers will reduce the voltage. To the extent I use the fader at all, it is generally to fade toward the back to get more bass. This is probably because I'm old enough to remember when front speakers were tiny and the best oomph came from larger speakers in the back dash.
