Help 0003 Distortion, HELP!!

Hello, I purchased my bazooka tube about 8 or 9 months ago for my 2007 FJ cruiser. I have kept it unplugged for about 2 months now because whenever it is hooked up the tube sounds extremely distorted and doesnt sound good at all. I have adjusted the gain on th eback of the tube and it really doesnt change much of how it sounds. Also, before I unhooked it it seemed like the plug for the tube was not connecting right and the tube would turn off and then on and make a loud low-bass resonance sound then work fine up until a few months ago. I used the supplied harnes and bracketry for my truck using the OEM kit it came with. Could the speaker inside the tube be defective? Or the amplifier part? Any info would be appreciated.
