That's pretty impressive! Back in 95-96 when I built my Mazda('82 626 Coupe), I could bounce(basically hover) a gallon milk jug 1/2 full of water off the top before I deadened it. It had 2 15's forward facing(fold down seats) in the trunk in about 7 cubes. I was competing in USAC 0 - 100 class. 91 watts of beastly power. The jug trick was at 42hz. My peak notes were 46 - 48hz(except on cool days which were around 44hz). Man those cars had some weak roofs back then. My lowest score was 141.?, Cause I left everything in SQ settings. Back then they played "Flashdance" for the legal SPL run.

OMG...today I took one of my friends 12 Type R's and put it in my T-line.

He has the Best Buy 4 year replacement plan so he wanted to blow his two and get new ones...I said I could help with that

Well I just got back from a HEAVY BEATING SESSION. I mean I threw the full fury of the Elemental Designs Nine.1 at it at 1 ohm and it only gave out some burnt coil smell but still pounds.

I mean first I gave it the usual full blast of "White Girl" and "Hypnotize"...the WHOLE SONG.

Still nothing...so I said aight well lets see if we can bottom it out. Played a 10Hz tone for a FULL MINUTE. No sweat the sub just laughed at us.

Played 20Hz tone for a FULL MINUTE. Ehhh some vc smell but nothing major. Hey how about another minute of some 30Hz tone. Still nothing. The smell came and went. Maybe it was some excess glue.

BUT GOD DAMN...this Type R will NOT DIE. My ears are KILLING. I even played a bunch of Bass songs...the usual stuff you download from limewire when putting in "bass tester" and stuff like that.

I mean 30 minutes of full blast 1200 watts and tones...the sub is still alive and kicking.

WTF?? lol

I'll take some vids sunday..I'll be gone for the weekend for a wedding.

Your just barely tapping the thermal limits of that sub. It'll take weeks(or maybe months) to take it out at that rate. Strap 2 MGA11500H's to that pig and play a 32hz square wave. You'll turn the voice coil into dental floss.

lol...well its dual 2 ohm so can those amps handle a .5 ohm load??

also I REALLY need another battery in the back...lol

This amp pulls a lot more current than I thought.

I think this is a quality sub actually...I've always been fond of Type R's. rated at 500 watts rms and taking twice that easily?? These are worth much more than 100 bucks

The specs for the MGA11500H amp seem odd.

puts out more power at 2 ohms than at 1 ohm???

Power @ 4 OHM 810Wx1
Power @ 2 OHM 1550Wx1
Power @ 1 OHM 1222Wx1

You would put the sub in series at 4ohm and strap the amps (2ohm each). They are Class H amps. Kind of an upgraded A/B with pretection featues that let it reduce power rather than overheat. They are 1ohm "stable", but 2ohm "optimized". "Google Class H Amplification", it will explain it much better than I can.

nice...only thing is that my truck cannot support that kind of current draw lol

What is the max current draw of one of these amps at 2 ohms??

I see in the manual it states 200 amp external fuse. It's also class a/b which is less efficient though.

I'd need some serious electrical.

I think that class H design is ingenious though. I get the idea since class a/b puts off a lot more heat than class d so lowering the output is actually a very smart idea

Just get 2 8volt and 2 6volt batteries and make 2 14v batteries. Add a 240 amp GM CS144 alternator with an adjustable regulator charging at 15.8v.

Just look at my alternator post, it has some companies that make upgraded alternators.

Star Auto Electric built all my daily and competition alternators. I never suffered a single failure. I ran the same alternator from a vehicle I built in 01 on the vehicle we won the championship with in 02. It charged 12 batteries in 01 (18v) and 8 batteries in 02. We had new bearings and brushes put in before finals in 02. Turns out that it didn't need either; But it was worth $30.00 to be sure.
