Question on the ELA-BCM

I have recently had given to me an older EL8A-HP and was wondering if the ELA-BCM remote controller was compatable with that sub.

Welcome to the Bazooka Forum. The ELA-BCM is designed to work with the EL and BA Series component amplifiers, which are not the same amplifiers equipped with your EL-HP. You will most likely find little or no useable adjustment if you do decide to try it. You won't hurt anything if you do want to try it.
