Default El 604

i have had this bass tube for at least 5yrs probably longer. last week it just stopped working. i dont much about speakers, but i did take it apart to see it was anything obvious and it wasnt. so can i get just a replacement bass speaker or do i have to get a whole new tube? it is a 6 1/2" bass.

I'm sorry your speaker stopped working. No need to replace the whole tube, we do have replacement woofers. The correct replacement woofer for the EL604 is a WF641.5. The cost is $47.95 plus shipping. Please contact Customer Service at (800) 843-8823 if you would lilke to place an order. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

thanks cj. any idea what would cause it to stop working? it was hooked to factory stereo through a line output converter and driven by a sony xm4520 amp (45x2). i dont want to have something go wrong with the new one because of what i did.

Roly,
Without seeing the speaker itself, it is hard to say what happened. Given the unit is 5 years old, it could have simply fatigued over time and/or a lead wire might have shorted. My guess is that when you replace the woofer, you will get many more years of enjoyment from your tube.

I am suspecting it is more likely to be a broken lead wire. 5 years is a long time. With todays music content and recording tactics, anything over 2 years with any sub is amazing.
