The switch is the Input Phase Switch and the knob adjusts the gain level of the Tube. The Input Phase Switch corrects any phase issues. Phase issues will always cause lack of bass output. Flipping this switch will rectify this situation if there is one present. The knob on the Tube is used to adjust the output of the Tube.
